Project Overview
Aesthetifacts set out to challenge the boundaries between industrial function and artistic form. The goal was to design a series of products that not only serve practical purposes but also elevate their environments as sculptural pieces.
Problem
Traditional industrial products often prioritise function over form, leading to environments filled with uninspired, purely utilitarian objects. The challenge was to reimagine these everyday items as aesthetically-driven artefacts that blend seamlessly into modern spaces—both visually and practically.
Research & Discovery
Through user interviews, market analysis, and a review of contemporary home/office trends, we uncovered a growing demand for emotionally engaging products that evoke presence and pride. Sustainability and modular design also emerged as top user priorities.
Design Process
1. Ideation & Sketching
We started with rapid ideation sessions and concept sketching, fusing minimalism with biomorphic design cues inspired by nature.
2. Prototyping
3D models and prototypes were developed using biodegradable PLA and recycled aluminum to evaluate scale, usability, and assembly ease.
3. Testing & Refinement
User testing focused on ergonomics, intuitive use, and material feel. We iterated shapes and finishes to ensure both form and function aligned with the Aesthetifacts vision.
Outcome
We delivered a line of six multifunctional items including:
- A modular desk organizer that transforms into a sculpture
- A vase-lamp hybrid with soft-touch dimmable lighting
- A sculptural wall hook system resembling abstract art
Each piece is sustainable, stackable, and built to integrate into various interior aesthetics.
